‘Restricted’ Stripe accounts

PayNow has recently become aware that some of our awesome customers are getting this message after signing up and using our app once:

‘This account cannot currently make live charge. If you are customer trying to make a purchase, please contact the owner of this site. Your transaction has not been processed.’

If this is you, please continue reading to find out how to solve the issue.

In certain circumstances Stripe restricts accounts if the business is deemed high risk or they just need more information, such as bank account details or verifying addresses, to allow payments to be processed through the platform. You will need to contact Stripe in order to resolve the issue. To contact Stripe, go to https://stripe.com/contact

Most requests for reactivation take as little as 1 – 2 days to resolve. Unfortunately, PayNow isn’t able to undertake the request on your behalf.

This error can be quite frustrating as you have already processed one payment and the Stripe dashboard does not indicate any problems.

In a majority of cases it can be fixed quickly and easily by providing more details about your business to Stripe. A small number of businesses are unable to transact on Stripe due to legal reasons. To read more about this click here: https://stripe.com/au/blog/why-some-businesses-arent-allowed
